Lutron systems installed by an electrician with 10+ years in automation

Lighting control is electrical work first. Every Lutron dimmer and keypad sits on a real circuit, and it has to match the fixtures, the loads and the wiring in your walls. Our owner, Sebastian Posada, has personal Lutron and Control4 training and more than 10 years of experience designing and programming home automation. And because Watt's Up is a licensed electrical contractor, we don't need to bring in another company to change circuits, add neutrals or fix old wiring.

Which Lutron system is right for your home?

Lutron makes several systems, and choosing the right one saves money and frustration. We will tell you plainly which one fits your home.

Caséta: a few rooms, or a condo

Caséta is Lutron's app-based smart lighting. It replaces standard switches with smart dimmers and switches, adds Pico wireless remotes, and works with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa and Google Home. It is a good fit for a condo, a rental you own, or a homeowner who wants to start with the kitchen and living room. We install it the right way, on the right circuits, and set up your scenes and schedules.

RadioRA 3: whole-home lighting control

RadioRA 3 is Lutron's professionally installed system for whole-home lighting and shade control. It uses Sunnata keypads with engraved buttons, a central processor and the Lutron app, and it is wireless, so it works well in remodels and finished homes as well as new construction. One button can set a whole room, a whole floor or the whole house.

Already have HomeWorks? Call us and we'll tell you what we can help with.

Already have RadioRA 2?

Many South Florida homes have older Lutron RadioRA 2 systems. Lutron has introduced RadioRA 3 as the next generation. We can look at your existing system and explain your options for adding to it or upgrading.

Lutron motorized shades

In South Florida, the sun is part of the design problem. Lutron motorized shades can lower on a schedule to cut afternoon glare and heat, rise in the morning, and close at night for privacy, using the same keypads and app as your lights. We install Lutron motorized shades in a range of fabrics and styles:

  • Battery-powered and plug-in options for finished homes and condos
  • Wired options for new construction and larger windows
  • Room-darkening and light-filtering fabrics for bedrooms, media rooms and living areas

Wired shades need power and control wiring at each window, which is easiest to run before the drywall goes up. As electricians, we plan that wiring with the rest of your project. See our motorized shades page.

What Lutron lighting control does for your home

  • Scenes: "Welcome," "Dinner," "Movie" and "Goodnight" buttons that set every light at once
  • Schedules: exterior and landscape lights that follow sunrise and sunset, so you never touch them
  • Away mode: lights that turn on and off while you travel, so the house looks lived in
  • Fewer switches: a single keypad can replace a gang of four or five switches by the door
  • Smooth dimming: dimmers matched to your LED fixtures to cut flicker and buzz
  • Control from anywhere: check and change your lights from the app

If your LED lights flicker or buzz on a dimmer, the dimmer and the fixture may not be a good match. We help diagnose and fix LED flicker. See lighting design and installation and our guide understanding Kelvin and lumens.

Lutron with Control4 and the rest of your smart home

Lutron can run on its own, or it can be part of a larger smart home. Lutron lighting and shades can integrate with Control4, so one keypad or one app runs your lights, shades, music, TVs, climate and cameras. See Control4 smart home installation in Sunrise, home automation, audio and video and low voltage wiring. Our guide Lutron vs. Control4 vs. Hue for South Florida homes compares the options.

Drawings, permits and wiring, all in house

We prepare electrical drawings in house, and our in-house permit expediting team handles your permit, so your project doesn't wait on paperwork.

  • Electrical drawings prepared in house for remodels, additions and new construction
  • Permits filed and tracked by our in-house permit expediting team when your project needs one
  • Neutral wires, new circuits and old wiring fixed by our own licensed team
  • Panel upgrades when your home needs more capacity. See electrical panel replacement and upgrades.

Lutron lighting in Sunrise and nearby

Older homes in Sunrise Lakes, Welleby and Sunrise Golf Village often have switch boxes without a neutral wire or aging circuits, which limits which smart dimmers will work. Newer homes on the west side near Sawgrass Mills usually have the wiring but need a plan for keypads and shades. Condos need wireless products and respect for association rules. Because we are electricians, we can solve the wiring and the controls together. See our Sunrise electrician page.

We also install Lutron lighting control and shades in Plantation, Weston, Davie, other Broward cities.

Lutron questions we hear in Sunrise

What is the difference between Caséta and RadioRA 3?

Caséta is Lutron's app-based smart lighting for a few rooms or a condo, and it works with Apple Home, Alexa and Google Home. RadioRA 3 is Lutron's professionally installed whole-home system with engraved keypads, a central processor and shade control. We recommend the one that fits your home.

Do Lutron smart dimmers need a neutral wire?

Some Lutron dimmers need a neutral and others don't. Many older Broward homes lack a neutral in the switch box. As licensed electricians, we check your wiring and choose the right dimmer or update the wiring.

Can Lutron lighting work with Control4?

Yes. Lutron lighting and shades can integrate with Control4, so one keypad or app runs your lights, shades, music, TVs and more.

Can you add Lutron to a finished home or condo?

Yes. Caséta and RadioRA 3 are wireless, so most installs replace existing switches without opening walls. Battery-powered Lutron shades also work well in finished homes and condos.

Do you install Lutron motorized shades?

Yes. We install Lutron motorized shades and tie them into your lighting scenes and schedules. We plan the power and control wiring for wired shades with the rest of the project.

Why do my LED lights flicker on a dimmer?

Usually because the dimmer and the LED fixture or bulb are not a good match. We check compatibility and help diagnose and fix LED flicker and buzzing.

Do I need a permit for lighting control work in Sunrise?

It depends on the scope. New circuits, panel upgrades and remodel electrical work usually need a permit and inspection. We prepare electrical drawings in house, and our in-house permit expediting team handles the permit when one is needed.

How much does Lutron lighting control cost?

It depends on the system, the number of rooms and the wiring. We give you a clear written quote after a walkthrough.

Can you upgrade my older Lutron RadioRA 2 system?

We can evaluate it and explain your options for adding to it or moving to RadioRA 3.

Do you install Lutron in Plantation, Weston and Davie?

Yes. We are based in Sunrise and work in Plantation, Weston, Davie and other Broward cities. ¿Hablan español? Sí, explicamos todo en español o en inglés.
